Blog: Geeky Day

I had quite a geeky day today…! Today is my last free day in Australia before I travel home via Japan, Russia & Czech Republic. I’ll be making a couple of theme park related stops in one or more of those countries, so keep an eye on this blog!

I figured I’d like to hit one of the parks on the Gold Coast today but couldn’t decide which one, so I thought, why not visit all of them? I figured I could give myself the (slightly lame) challenge of riding all of the coasters in each of the parks throughout the day.

I thought I’d be able to manage it, subject to queues.

I’m pleased to say that I did manage to hit all the coasters (eleven across four parks), but I can’t say that it was a particularly enjoyable experience, especially with the heat!

I read on people’s blogs and websites all around the world about how they nip into a park to get their credit on a single ride, before heading off down the road to score another, which was essentially what I did today. I quickly came to the conclusion that this way of doing things isn’t an enjoyable experience for me. It only solidified the fact that I am a fan of theme parks, not roller coasters.

If people enjoy doing it this way – fair play to them. I’ll stick to casually wandering around the parks finding the little things that so many people miss or don’t appreciate in their haste to ride as many roller coasters as they can.

For the record, here are the coasters from today;

Dreamworld

  • Tower of Terror 2
  • Cyclone
  • Mick Doohan’s Motocoaster
  • Runaway Reptar

Wet ‘n’ Wild

  • Surf Rider

Warner Bros. Movie World

  • Superman Escape
  • Lethal Weapon
  • Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster
  • Roadrunner Roller Coaster

Sea World

  • Sea Viper
  • Jet Rescue
